MRS Honored for Family Business Award

honor-2007

IRVINGTON, NJ (October 2nd) – Manufacturers Reserve Supply (MRS) was honored as a semi-finalist at the Fifteenth Annual New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards presentation.

MRS, a third generation wholesale building materials distributor, founded in 1931, was one of three semi- finalists in their category. MRS President Steve Boyd stated, ” MRS is a family business and I am lucky enough to be the third generation to head the company. My grandfather and father were dedicated to making MRS a premier distributor of building materials. I have been guided by their integrity, work ethic and wisdom in my determination to work hard and grow our company. I am grateful for our success and strive to run MRS in a way that would make my father and grandfather proud.”

The awards program is sponsored by the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. It represents the only statewide effort to specifically honor family-owned companies for their significant role in the economy and contributions to the community.

Guest speakers for the 2007 program were emcee Elizabeth Christopherson, Executive Director of New Jersey Network (NJN) Public Television and Radio and President of the NJN Foundation for Public Broadcasting, Inc, along with Kevin Drennan, Executive Director of the New Jersey Commerce Commission.

MRS Driver Walt Ingram Retires After 40 Years of Service

walt

Walt Ingram, tractor trailer driver and exemplary member of the MRS team, is retiring after four decades of service to the company. “Walt is an extraordinary individual”, says Steve Boyd, MRS President. “He is loyal, conscientious, dedicated to the company and, above all, a complete professional. He has been an invaluable asset to MRS as an ambassador for the company among our clients.”

Ray Unick, MRS Vice President, is equally effusive in noting the exemplary service of Walt Ingram. “Walt making deliveries is like having another salesman in the field. He is always looking for opportunities to introduce our products to our customers. He cares about our company and our customers, and is a pleasant, helpful professional at all times.”

“I have been dealing with Wally for 33 years,” says Bob Dustin, Salesperson, Jaeger Lumber, Point Pleasant, New Jersey. “He has done his job with class, and has always been polite, caring and friendly.”

“I have known Wally for over 25 years. From the day I had the pleasure of meeting him, he always had a smile on his face,” says Paul Petit, Warehouse Foreman, Somerville Lumber, Bridgewater, New Jersey. “On the difficult days, he has such a positive attitude. He made that part of the day a little better. He also took pride in what he did, making sure the counts and material were here and accurate. I knew that when I dealt with Wally, he was not only watching out for MRS, but also for Somerville Lumber.”

“The lumber industry and I will sorely miss a true professional. I wish Wally the best of luck in his retirement,” Paul Petit adds.

“MRS has been a wonderful place to work,” says Walt. “I have loved going to work in the morning and I will miss it, but it’s time to retire.”

Walt will be relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina after retirement to be closer to his family. He also plans to keep active and to do some traveling. Walt’s first post-retirement trip will be a cruise to the destination of his choice given to him by MRS in appreciation for his many years of service.

We agree. All of us at MRS wish Walt joy, good health and much happiness in his retirement.

CraftMaster Announces Distribution Agreement with MRS

Chicago, IL, May 1, 2007 – CMI announced today that MRS will be distributing its MiraTEC® exterior composite trim. MiraTEC combines the eye-catching beauty of cedar with the long-term performance of an engineered product. MiraTEC is treated with the wood preservative zinc borate and is made with phenolic resins that provide outstanding resistance to moisture, rot, and termites.

“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with MRS,” said Bob Merrill, CMI President and CEO. “MRS is committed to service excellence just as CMI is committed to excellence in manufacturing, design, and marketing. MRS has been distributing specialty building products for over 76 years and we believe that they will be very successful with the MiraTEC product line.”

MiraTEC Trim provides the perfect accent to any exterior cladding – fiber cement, vinyl, brick, OSB, hardboard, wood, or stucco. Factory primed on four sides with a mildew resistant primer for easy painting, it is available in 5/4 and 4/4 thicknesses: 16 foot lengths; and widths from 2″ to 16″. For added piece of mind, MiraTEC is backed by a 30-year warranty – the most comprehensive in the trim category.

“We are highly selective about products and suppliers, “ said MRS President and CEO Steve Boyd. “We want to be sure that we have products that will not only be successful, but will also be backed by a company capable of supporting the product’s success over the long haul. The CMI team is made up of experienced, skilled professionals and MRS looks forward to a long-term successful relationship.”
